Timon Vandamme is a senior consultant in digestive and neuroendocrine oncology at the Antwerp University Hospital and assistant professor at the University of Antwerp. In addition, he is the head of NETwerk, an ERN EURACAN – ENETS Center of Excellence for neuroendocrine cancer care. As clinician-researcher, he is performing research in novel biomarkers including circulating tumoral DNA (ctDNA) and innovative immune-modulatory therapy such as anti-cancer vaccines in digestive and neuroendocrine neoplasms (NEN). Prof. Dr. Vandamme obtained a joint PhD at the University of Antwerp, Belgium and the Erasmus MC, the Netherlands.
Currently, he is holder of a Senior Clinical Investigator (FKM) grant of the Fonds Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek (FWO) at the University of Antwerp. Furthermore, he is the principal investigator (PI) of > 10 trials at the University Hospital Antwerp, both industry-sponsored and academic trials. He has authored numerous papers outside his PhD in high-impact journals. In addition, he is member of the editorial board of Endocrine-Related Cancer and Acta Gastro-enterologica Belgica. He is currently chair of the Dutch Belgian Neuroendocrine Tumor Society (DBNETS) and treasurer of the Belgian Group of Digestive Oncology (BGDO). In addition, he is active member of the EORTC GI Tract Cancer Group, the ENETS Translational Working Group and the Stand up against Cancer (Kom op tegen Kanker) Translational Expert Group. He is involved in the European Commission’s Joint Actions EUnetCCC, eCAN+, PCM, and JANE-2 on improving cancer care in Europe.
